The World Needs More Heart Centered People!
The World Needs More Heart Centered People!

Glorious morning!

On this day, let's expand on a quote from Pantanjali.

“ Every morning put your mind into your heart and stand in the presence of God all day long “

Pantanjaji was a mystic and an author and philosopher in ancient India. It is believed that he compiled the works of the Yoga sutras which is a classical yoga text.

What this quote says to me is,  to continuously quite the mind throughout the day and focus on God. When we interact with people, how much of our heart is delivering the words that we speak? If we are not connected to our divine self ( where God dwells) chances are we are coming from the egoic mind. There is a difference.

For instance, let’s say a teenager is babysitting a child and the teenager is very engaged in her phone and on social media while babysitting. She is basically just there to make sure the house doesn't burn down. The child falls and gets a cut and is bleeding and crying and interrupts the teenager for help. She is a little annoyed that the kid got hurt because she was interrupted while in a deep conversation with her boyfriend through text. She says ok don't worry you're going to be fine, where does your mom keep the band aids? The kid shows her where and the band aid is put on and the kid calms down. The teenager, seeing that the child is going back to play, quickly returns back to her texting conversation. The night was basically the teenager entertaining herself and the kids entertaining themselves because they can see the teenager wants nothing to do with them. Clearly the teenager is in her EGO mind and pretty detached from the feeling heart. Let's play out a different story.

A teenager arrives to babysit kids. She greets them with a big smile and says we are gonna have so much fun! The teenager has no plans on getting lost in her phone because she wants to exchange happiness with the children and knows there is a time and a place to be engulfed with the phone. The night starts out with playing games, they laugh and have fun. Then she makes some cookies with them and they all watch a movie together, while making cookies one of the children cuts herself and is crying. The teenager feels horrible and comforts the child and reassures her. She carefully cleans the child's cut while singing  “It's All Right” by the group The Impressions. The child immediately responds to the light hearted teenager and calms down and feels so much better. The teenager hugs the girl and says “ are you ok ? “ Do you want to continue making the cookies ? The child smiles excitingly and says yes. They all watch a movie while eating the cookies. The night ends with hugs and goodnight.

In one story there was no heart expression. In the other story, complete heart engagement. When we come from our hearts in everything we do, we experience a different reality. The kids in the story where the teenager was expressing interest and care were blessed to have a teenager babysit them who was heart centered. The other teenager could have been heart centered if she wanted to be but chose to let her mind run the show, instead of her heart. When we get too focused on ourselves, that is an indication that we are not being heart centered. When we have a service orientated heart we care about the other person just as much as ourselves. So to me, standing in the presence of god all day long is making sure we are coming from our hearts with care and concern for others and not just ourselves. The EGO mind can turn us into self centered entitled beings. When we engage our hearts, it puts the EGO mind in the backseat, where it belongs. Living life from mostly Ego eventually becomes a habit, but so does living from your heart center. It comes down to consciously choosing.
